I hope you enjoy our website. Our farm is located in South Central Pennsylvania - York, PA. We are members of the International Finnsheep Registry (IFR).
Finnish Landrace "Finnsheep" are a multi-purpose breed. They were imported to the United States from Canada in the 1960's. Their medium-fine fleece is low in lanolin, soft to the touch, lustrous and sought after by hand-spinners. Finnsheep are also known for exhibiting outstanding maternal traits, and having litters (up to seven lambs at a time). Their meat is naturally lean & tender and they possess a docile and friendly temperament.
Our flock has excellent health and is enrolled in the USDA Scrapie Flock Export Program. Our entire flock was recently tested OPP negative. Our farm's business plan includes the introduction of the R gene at Codon 171 into our flock. Finnegan's Flock has worked with professionals to improve the overall health and production of our sheep, as well as to breed in the R gene at Codon 171 for Scrapie resistance. I look for our 2015 crop of lambs to be structurally correct and healthy. We should have QR and RR lambs at Codon 171 available in white, brown, black and silver.
Our sheep are fed a special blend of grains and second cut hay when pasture grass is not available. However, when they are on pasture they are rotated to a different pasture every three to four weeks. The health of our sheep is of the utmost importance to us.
Finnegan's Flock also sells high quality Finnsheep fleece and fiber. We take care and pride in our Finnsheep fleece. We use sheep covers to keep fleece vegetable matter free. Please check our product page for more information about the fleece and fiber available for sale.
Thank you for visiting our site and contact us with any questions.
